Yellowstone: October 2012

Living next to my sister-in-law is great, especially when she is a "Planny Plannerson" and I get to reap the benefits of her planning when we tag along!  Brett and Ashlee asked us if we wanted to join them in Yellowstone over Fall Break and we said yes.  It was nice to have John's mom come with us as well.  She was lucky enough to have story after story requested from her on the drive home.  It was a little rough at times for me because I was still throwing up a lot and not able to eat much, but it was nice to have a change of scenery to take my mind off of it. The kids enjoyed the park to a point, but were definitely ready to go home after a couple of days.  They loved swimming in the hotel pool every night.  Avery learned how to swim on her stomach and Macy learned how to swim on her back.  Although, I'm sure they won't remember by the time we get in a pool again.  One of my favorite parts was actually right outside the park.  There was some kind of Bear and Wolf preserve.  It was like a zoo, except the only animals in the zoo were bears, wolves, and brain-damaged birds.  It was fascinating to watch the animals up close, especially the wolves.  I could have watched them interacting with each other for hours.  Ashlee had a book about all the people who had died in Yellowstone.  Macy was fascinated by the stories and made us tell them multiple times.  That helped them understand why there was no way mom was going to let go of anyone's hand.  Her favorite was one about a man who jumped in after his dog.  Needless to say, they both died.
 Saw tons of Bison
 Lots of hot springs
 Old Faithful
A hotel by Old Faithful that was like a log castle inside
 Pretty cold in the mornings
the cold weather made the steam more visible in the mornings
